Tennis Teams
Anyone using the tennis courts must be properly attired.
- A top must be worn at all times.
- Tennis shoes only to be worn while playing.
- Swim suits may not be worn while playing.
Age Guidelines
- Children under age 7 are not allowed within the fenced area without adult supervision.
- Children under age 13, unless playing with a person aged 13 or older, must give up the court to adults after 6 pm on Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
Replacements and additions
- If a single or a doubles player is replaced, the time limit shall be the limit applicable to the original players if previous arrivals are waiting for the courts.
- If singles players invite new arrivals to play doubles, the time limit shall be the limit applicable to the original players if previous arrivals are waiting for a court.
Guests
- Guests on either court must be accompanied by a member.
- Use of the courts for instructional purposes is permissible but such use is subject to all rules, including time limits.
- A key fob will be issued to each member's family. It is the responsibility of each member to make sure the tennis courts are locked and all lights turned off upon the completion of play.
Reserving the Courts
- A reservation should be made online on yourcourts.com Each membership (family/household) will receive an email from yourcourts.com. This email will direct you to sign up for your user name and password.
- Members must have a reservation to use the courts, unless they are empty when you arrive. If someone shows up while you are playing and they have reserved the courts online, then you will have to respect their online reservation and give the court to them.
- Reservations may be made up to three days in advance beginning at 8 am each morning.
- The court farthest from the swimming pool is the “reserved” court.
- The court nearest the swimming pool is a “non-reserved” (open) court.
- When others are waiting, playing time for the open court will be 1½ hours.
- Each family is allowed only one reservation per day on weekends and holidays, and two reservations per day on weekdays.
- Each player is deemed to have used one reservation each time he plays on the reserved court, regardless of who made the reservations.
- Anyone making a reservation must be age 10 or older. Parents are responsible for teaching their children to make reservations correctly. All children under age 10 must have reservations made by a parent or other responsible person.
- The court should be reserved for no longer than 1½ hours. Reservations times are on the half-hour and the hour. Remember that the lights will automatically switch off at 8 PM.
- If at least two players are not present 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time the reservation is forfeited. If reserved time is forfeited, play shall proceed on a first come-first served basis until the next reserved time.
Tennis Teams
- Any member who wishes to join a tennis team should contact the Tennis Chair tennis@thesummitatsmokerise.com.
- Summit teams are allowed to reserve the tennis courts for a maximum of three consecutive hours per week for matches and two consecutive hours, excluding weekends, for practice. Note: Matches that run more than three hours may be played to completion. It is required that all teams post their regular practice time (reserved court time) on the bulletin board and in the reservation book. The Tennis Chairperson must authorize rescheduling due to rain-outs. Permanent rescheduling due to coaching must be authorized and posted two weeks in advance.
- At least one member of all tennis teams which play on the Summit courts must be a member of the Summit Community Association.
- Non-association team members are only authorized to use the courts during practices and matches unless accompanied by an association member.
- Adult tennis team members who do not belong to the Community Association must pay a fee of $50 per person per season to the Tennis Chairperson; checks should be made payable to the Summit Community Association.
- Children tennis team members who do not belong to the Summit community Association must pay a fee of $30 per person per season. The lower rate is due to use of the facility during off-peak time.
- Note that for children’s teams, practice is to be scheduled during weekdays and extend no later than 6:00 pm. Further, no children’s matches are to be scheduled on weekends without prior approval.
- Team captains are to submit a copy of the team roster indicating non-members and the corresponding checks to the Tennis Chairperson prior to the beginning of the season. Key fobs allowing access to the courts will be issued to Team captains upon registration of the team with the Tennis Chairperson and may only be used for authorized court use as stated in these rules.
- Any use of the tennis facility other than as set forth in these rules must be presented to the Tennis Chairperson and approval by the Summit Board of Directors.
- All members are expected to comply with these rules. Violations should be reported to the Tennis Chairperson and can result in the suspension of playing privileges, without refund of the annual membership fee, at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
